[/right] The son of two top grunts involved within Team Rocket, anyone should've known that Ciel would turn his back upon the good of society some time in his life. Sadly, when Ciel was born his mother [Mizu] passed in the birthing process. Even with Mizu deceased, Ciel's father [Waltz] still held her last wish within his mind ; she didn't want her dear son to grow up in the kind of environment that Team Rocket provided. And of course Waltz supposed he should keep the promise they made without question. Knowing Team Rocket would not allow him to simply leave, Waltz took Ciel from the nursery to run else where in the world. The only two things to actually trigger the distasteful memories of Team Rocket were two Pokemon ; a young Electrike in Waltz's care and an even younger Totodile that Mizu simply kept as a pet due to the fact that it was too young to engage in battles.
Surprisingly enough, for a total of nine years things were average ; Ciel spent time with his father and their Pokemon. Ciel even owned a Pokemon now ; a small Poochyena that he had found injured in the forest that they lived by. Even though life for now was normal, Waltz couldn't turn his gaze away from Ciel's odd, dark personality that seemed almost stuck up. Of course, they lived without need for money due to the underground work that they which was said to replace the Illuminati family in their profession but there was no reason that Ciel should've had such a sour personality. Maybe it was because little boys should grow with their mother? Who knew and who would ever know but it was certain that Ciel was not your average child. Even so Waltz would find himself no longer able to supervise his son in a year due to a tragic even ; the murder of Waltz Phantomhive that hit the front headlines in each newspaper. Each said the same thing ; a member of Team Rocket had killed him by both hand and Pokemon. Both son and the three Pokemon owned were missing. The fact that Ciel Phantomhive had survived the massacre was no more then blind luck. The ten-year old had simply stumbled out of the house to go play Pokemon trainer with the Poochyena he so proudly named Juliet, his father's Electrike Zain, and his deceased mother's Totodile. And upon coming home and met with the bloody sight that no child should have seen, the instinct of fear overcame him and caused him to flee the scene in haste. Though Ciel never truly considered what might've happened if he was found.
Maybe he may not of found himself living on the streets, he would've been put into an orphanage. Though he spent much of his time training Juliet who evolved in the mean time. Even though Ciel mostly ordered around Zain and Totodile, Juliet seemed to hold a special place in his heart. The next year Team Darkness found him and challenged him to a battle to take his three Pokemon. Unlike normal trainers, Ciel sent Zain and Totodile to attack his Pokemon while he and Juliet attacked the Team Darkness member. Though the grunt came close to death, the leader himself appeared before him to offer him a place to stay so long as he served Team Darkness. Not having any other place to go, Ciel willingly joined Team Darkness as a grunt. Ariados was then given to him to snatch other Pokemon for the team.
