Jamie was feeling confident. She was flushed from a big win in the Sinnoh Super Contests, and it was now the off season of summer. She had decided to travel to Kyoto as her next enjoyable gym circuit. The air was good, and the weather fine. She was going to have a fresh start in a new region, and lab days were ones filled with excitement and wonder. There were plenty of days like that in a journey, but lab days had their own taste and texture.
She had looked at the starters and wrestled with herself all night trying to decide between starly and mareep. However, when she looked at her early pokemon in recent years, she saw sentret, rattata, zigzagoon, pidgey, hoothoot, bidoof and far too many other normal types. She had to start something new, or she would get stuck in a single type rut, and that would be depressing. Also, it would make her easier to beat. So she vowed to ignore starly, and go for the sparkly mareep instead. Or even the oddish, although she had to say that gloom was a difficult pokemon to be around.
So she stepped up to the lab's door this lovely morning, and knocked, full of the grit and determination to succeed in life. And to ignore normal types. Or, well, maybe wait for a few days before she caught one. No! Ignore them, Jamie. You like Whitney, but do you want to be her? Ignore them! For now.
She smiled to herself at her own argument, and added another staccato beat with her knuckles for good measure.

As the light rapping came to the door, it swiftly opened to reviel a petite-looking brown haired woman that seemed to clash in appearance with the Purugly that stood loyally by her side, reaching up to her hips and glaring daggers at the new comer. "Welcome, let me guess, you're here for your first Pokemon?" she began with a slight giggle before backing up, her Pokemon following her in a kind of waddle due to it's collasal weight that seemed almost unhealthy for a Pokemon, especially one that was once so slim in it's pre-evolved form.
"It's the only visitors we've been getting recently. That and some.. Unwelcome people.." she said with a glance downward and a sigh that seemed to rob her from her feminine joyous features but, it didn't last long before she spun around towards Jamie with a smile. Gesturing to several Pokeballs behind her laying upon a silver counter, she winked to him. "Go ahead, choose whatever you like." [/size]

The Sinnohan felt a rush of that feeling one might call home coming. She loved to see the pokemon of Sinnoh, even though she had only left it a few days ago for the ferry ride. Not to mention it was a beautific purugly. The supposed ungainliness hid swiftness and grace seen on the battle field, and the play of muscles under the blue and white coat was a testament of its awe inspiring attack power.
"Can I have your purugly, Ma'am?" Jamie asked, before holding up her hands. "I'm only joking. I just love the Glameow line. But, um, yes, do you have a male mareep by any chance?"

As if the Purugly understood her, he squinted at the Sinnoh native. The brunette lab assistant laughed lightly, looking down at her Pokemon. “Oh, you don’t want this brute,” she teased, with an affectionate scratch behind the ears.
“I’m sure we have one,” she answered cheerily. Hazarding a guess among the several Mareep on the counter, the assistant picked up a Pokeball and released the one inside. Preoccupied as she was with troubling thoughts, she nevertheless was quick to appeal to young trainers’ preferences whenever possible.
The Pokemon that emerged was a vision of pale yellows and blues, with the telltale bumblebee stripes. The coat was particularly fluffy due to Kyoto’s famed humid summers. “Here we are,” the brunette said, smiling. “A male Mareep,” she confirmed happily. "What do you think?"
