It had been a short while since he set out on Route 1 with his Ninetales at his side. He had taken off his shirt and tucked it away in the bag that was hanging loosely at his waist, and he had also removed his sandals. Another bag was strapped around his shoulder; he did not want Ninetales to be hot as well, and the temperature was rising even more by now. The sun was shining strongly, but Genesis didn't mind. He was almost to the end of the road in where he would stumble into another town, but that seemed like a good ten miles or so. However, walking through the tall grass, as much as it itched, was fun; it provided him a chance to catch a Pokemon. He had been lucky enough to find an empty Pokeball just laying around.
"Wow, it's so hot out here, Ninetales." The creature growled in agreement but they continued to move forward. Soon he would stop as he pulled out from the bag a bottle of water and drank some of it before pouring some on Ninetales's tongue. In happiness she licked at his cheek, and then once again they were on their way across the route. "I haven't seen anything jump out..." He muttered to Ninetales.

As Genesis walked along the small route, a buzzing sound was heard from a tree ahead of the the trainer.. The sound increased and a cry was heard as a Butterfree fled from the tree swiftly but looked quite enraged ; the reason presenting itself as a Beedrill chased after the male butterfly Pokemon. However, the wasp-like creature was swiftly knocked away by a powerful gust attack generated by the Butterfree's powerful yet rather delicate looking wings, sending the Beedrill flying off after becoming entangled within the oak in which it had emerged from.
Despite the fact that his enemy had fled, this Butterfree still seemed rather irritated, this fact proven as it sent another Gust attack towards Genesis and his Ninetails.

He was appalled by the sudden appearance of two bug Pokemon, knowing that one was rather strong as he spotted the yellow Beedrill flying off in the distance. A bit excited that he had an opportunity to catch it, he was nervous to even try. If he used either one of his Pokemon, he could damage it clean to the bone and then not be able to catch it. But as the Gust came closer he could only do one thing; defend the pair under attack. He quickly commanded that his Ninetales use the move Safeguard, and a shiny barrier came up between them and the Gust.
It defended them for a split second before breaking apart. A weaker Gust managed to cool them down, which was what they had been looking for. While they stood there watching the enraged Pokemon, the boy was plotting while she was waiting. Finally, he commaned her to use another move known as Payback. That move wouldn't cause the bug to faint like Fire Spin would, so he had a chance to catch it, as long as its health was low. He was one of those smart trainers who wouldn't waste his Pokeballs.

The bug type Pokemon watched as his attack was blocked by the trainer's Pokemon. A fire type.. Unlike the Beedrill, this Ninetail's attacks could do heavy damage and by simple sense that each Pokemon carried the Butterfree could tell that his opponent was notably stronger, type difference aside. But as the Ninetail's Safeguard broke and a weaker, light breeze reached them both, the Pokemon swiftly dodged the payback attack, lifting himself higher up into the air.
With a harsh cry, the Butterfree began to flap it's wings, yellow spores beginning to form before they flew towards the Ninetails in hope to paralyze his opponent.

Ninetales had successfully dodged the spores; she would've chosen to use her tails to blow them away, but she would've been mildly affected, and she couldn't risk getting paralyzed at a time like this. It was too hot and she was not exactly in a good mood. Not only that, she was already preparing to use another move without a command from Genesis. Being smart enough she was able to make her own strategy when it was necessary, and being quick, she leapt into the air and attempted to slash the bug with a steel tail.
Genesis was pulling out the pokeball while he watched the commencing battle. He was biting his bottom lip and getting a bit nervous. "Don't knock it clean out, Ninetales," he muttered as he prepared to throw the ball, waiting for the right moment to strike. OOC Got somewhat of a writer's block, so...

With a widening of it's buggy, red eyes the Butterfree gave a pained cry as the iron tail connected with his body, sending him flying backwards. However, the Pokemon caught himself with his milky white wings, shooting a glare towards the Ninetails as he hung in there with still a considerable amount of health left within him.
Damn. Most of his bug type attacks wouldn't have a large effect on him as this Ninetail's fire attacks would undoubtably deal if they hit. But fortunately, he could take an iron tail or two and endure. With another cry, the Butterfree began flapping it's wings before a wind boosted up and a few silvery blades shot at Ninetails from the gust in a Silver Wind attack.

The Ninetales was satisfied that her attack had succeeded, but not as much as she would've liked. With a guttural growl she stood firmly, rooted to the spot, her red eyes glued upon the Butterfree. Within her mind she was making up a plan to harm it enough for the trainer to catch but not to knock it out fully. She waited patiently for Genesis's command.
The boy wiped his forehead with the back of his hand, watching the battle. He hoped it wouldn't take too long; the heat was getting to him and he was getting thirsty. A glass of icy water would've been lovely, but they were still some ways from the next town, and there was no telling if he could find anything to eat or drink there. He hadn't gone so far before, at least not on his own. He watched the Butterfree as it started to flap it wings.
The Ninetales allowed the blades to hit her, although she was not deeply harmed by the attack. With yet another growl she leapt up into the air and started to perform another Iron Tail, although at this point she was taking her time to conserve enough energy to weaken the foe.

As expected, the blades hit yet they didn't cause much damage to the Ninetails. And the Butterfree did not have the agility to dodge the second Iron Tail from his opponent, about to send him flying back however instead of getting sent back as the previous attack did, the bug Pokemon clung to the Shiny Ninetails's tail as the Iron Tail lost it's natural power. Since bug type attacks wouldn't work, his only possibly effect attack was narrowed down to one.
The Butterfree began to open it's mouth, a small orb of various colors forming before a powerful Psybeam was shot at his current enemy from close range.

The Ninetales allowed the attack to hit her, and for a moment staggered to the side as to regain its senses. Once it was prepared to move again, it performed yet another Iron Tail, following the same method as last time. With a bark to signal the boy that it would soon be time to throw the ball. Genesis understood right ahead and waited for Ninetales's Iron Tail to pass before he would throw the ball.
Sorry, I have somewhat of a Writer's Block lately.

Due to Psybeam being a psychic attack and causing a lick of confusion to any Butterfree, the Pokemon staggered with it's low health to recoil but it was too late for any action of self-defense or an offense to redirect Ninetails as the bug Pokemon was struck by one of the beast's tails glowing silver. The small Butterfree let out it's signature cry before plummeting towards the earth, landing with a loud thud with bruises from their battle adorning the bug Pokemon's body.. However, with a strong amount of determination the Pokemon began to lift itself up once more in an attempt to fly back into the air to battle, causing slight distress when he could only force his wings into very slow, weak flaps..
