It was a wonderful day!
Well, most people probably wouldn't think so. It was one of those days where the clouds were dark and thick and a constant drizzle permeated the atmosphere. Still, the young girl that traveled the heavily beaten path knew that today was going to be a great day because it was her day; the day she started her pokemon journey!
The purple-haired youth hummed a happy tune as she strolled along the path, admiring her surroundings which were vibrant and lush by the light precipitation. A small bellsprout plodded along by her side, seeming quite content to just stare straight up into the heavens. In reality, he was catching rainwater in his vessel-like mouth, something he enjoyed doing when it rained.
"Isn't this exciting, Bella?" the trainer enquired happily to her bellsprout.
Bella gave a small gurgle in reply, probably due to the large amount of water that he had collected in his mouth. Tamiko just smiled, not preturbed by the lack of a reply. She couldn't understand Bella. It was just a comfort to her to have something to talk to. She hoped that perhaps she would make some more friends on this journey, it didn't really matter to her if they spoke English or not.

Somehow this just wasn't fair.. It was her fault, she did even remember what had made her like.. like this. Who in all of Kyoto ever heard of a Grimer that smelled like flowers? People would've claimed that you were crazy to of seen a regular, average looking Grimer that instead of reeking like a dead possum smelled like some euphoric field of flowers. It was crazy, and she agreed with everyone that stated it. So now here she was, a young Grimer whom had no real memory of how she got to be this way, wondering down Route one in search of the nearest town. Maybe there she could find the local sewer and inquire other Pokemon on how she became such a nice smelling creature that was incredibly unnatural for her species.
However, her stride that was not all too swift paused as she caught sight of a human. A trainer of all things too, judging by the Bellsprout with her.. With a slight coo, the Grimer couldn't help but look to her with curiosity. They beat Pokemon, caught them for their own game, and ran them ragged but not all human trainer would be like that, could they? She found them interesting even.. But it wouldn't stop her from bolting at the first offensive maneuver.

As the pair continued their trek down the path, it was clear that neither of them were paying much attention. However, this didn't really matter in the least, because a wonderful and tantalizing smell had suddenly wafted their way.
Tamiko closed her eyes momentarily and inhaled deeply. She smelled... flowers? Well, she hadn't seen any before but there must be some nearby! It would be nice to take a break and pick some flowers. She looked about expectantly among the deep green foliage but it was quite clear that there were no flowers.
How dissapointing.
Bella, however, was the first to spot the sulking grimer. His eyes widened and he nearly choked on his rainwater in his haste to warn Tamiko. He ended up spewing the lot out onto the ground and watched sadly as it was absorbed into the earth. The sound caught the young trainer's attention and it was then she noticed a purple blot amongst the green of the landscape. It was a pokemon; a grimer to be exact.
Now that was confusing. First she smelled flowers and now there was a grimer here. That didn't seem right somehow. Instinctively, she pulled out her pokedex and flipped it open.
"Koji, I need some information please," Tamiko said, pointing the dex at the grimer. The pokedex beeped obligingly and its computer-generated voice spewed information.
"Grimer are known for their putrid stench that is often offensive to people and other pokemon," Koji supplied.
"Hmmm... Well, that doesn't seem right in this case," Tamiko said thoughtfully.
"You smell lovely, by the way," she told the curious grimer.
The thought of battling the creature crossed her mind but as she looked down at Bella, she thought better of it. His poison/grass attacks wouldn't do much against another poison pokemon. Plus, the creature seemed a bit... sad looking, if a grimer could come accross in such a way.
"Is there something wrong?" she questioned the creature, not really expecting a reply. As usual, she just really liked talking in hopes that someone would listen.

They didn't exactly attack.. How odd. The Grimer tilted her head somewhat, if that was visibly possible for her species. And then, they struck that question, that wretched question that made it worse. But she sucked it up, turning away slightly in her almost sulking manner. `... What do you think is wrong? I smell like flowers! I am a disgrace to my species!` She almost sobbed tearlessly , glancing away from the trainer and her Pokemon.

It was clear that the grimer was very upset, even if Tamiko could only hear the sludgy pokemon repeat its name a few times. Obviously, it was trying to answer her question, so at least it understood her!
She knelt down next to Bella, who was staring dumbly at the creature. Then she gave him a little nudge in the grimer's direction.
"Bella, why don't you try talking to it. See if you can calm it down or something."
The bellsprout gave Tamiko a bewildered look but eventually made his way shyly over. He certainly felt uncomfortable approaching the grimer and seemed to only be making the effort for Tamiko. He trailed the ground with one of his roots for a moment, trying to think of something to say.
"Listen, I know you're feeling down but maybe we can help. Did you try rolling in any dead rattata or maybe getting sprayed by a stunky could get your stench back. But personally, I think its an improvement."
Bella imediately regretted saying that last part but hey, what interest could his human have in a grimer when she had a great pokemon like him?

As the Bellsprout approached, the Grimer flinched, afraid he was going to frighten her to calm her down. But as he talked, she managed to calm down slightly, even though she was a little bit irritated. `... I have tried it, as a matter of fact, but I haven't tried to Stunky yet,` well.. until his last statement. A frown came to her face, `An improvement?! I am shunned by my own species, and looked upon as if I am some disgraceful malfunction in the world by anything else!` She could have attacked them.. but she resisted, for now at least.

"Hey, I was only kidding," the bellsprout lied. He winced a bit at her sudden outburst and decided it was best to just hope Tamiko could figure something out. He plodded back over to her and gave her a desperate look, hoping to convey that he had tried his best.
Well, the grimer was still pretty upset. Maybe if she talked to it, Tamiko could find a way to help it. There certainly didn't look like there was anything physically wrong with it. So what could be the problem?
Oh, right...
Then, she realized that it was the flower scent that was wafting from the poison pokemon. Grimer probably did not like nice-smelling things. Maybe that was why this one was all alone? Tamiko wondered if it was perhaps a birth defect of some sort, though this seemed unlikely, as she had never heard of something like that before. The scent-switch could've been done by humans but that didn't seem very humane. Who would've done something like this?
"Grimer," she finally called to the pokemon, kneeling to see it eye-to-eye.
"Why don't you come with us? I'd like to help you if we can. We could try to find out who did this to you or perhaps find someone who can get your smell back."
Tamiko waited to see what the grimer would do. Bella rolled his eyes in annoyance. This was just what he wanted to hear...

The female Grimer watched intently as the Bellsprout apologized and then began to wander back towards his trainer. He wasn't just joking, hmph! An improvement. That was like telling an Oddish that it was an 'improvement' to cut off it's leaves from it's little blue head! Ugh, what was wrong with people? Other Grimer laughed at her, shunned her, some had even gone so far as to attack her! How wretched was this fate, and even more so that she could not even remember how it happened, she certainly wasn't born like this, that much she was aware of.
However, the Grimer was snapped roughly from her thoughts as the trainer called out to her. ... Help? Could they? Would they? So possessed by these inquires, the Grimer paid no mind to the trainer's Bellsprout as he rolled his eyes. Joining up with a trainer.. Maybe she'd actually be accepted for once, she seemed like a decent human being and the Bellsprout well.. she could put up with him well enough.
After the moment of pondering passed, the Grimer began to scoot forward, tracking sludge along with it before coming face to face with Tamiko and giving her a smile and a nod conveying her approval.

Tamiko grinned gleefully. She had earned the grimer's trust and perhaps gained a new friend as well. She dug into the pocket of her jeans and succeeded in pulling out a small pokeball that was only covered in a small bit of lint. She pressed the button to enlarge it and held it out to the grimer in the palm of her hand.
"Welcome to the team," she said happily.
Bella just looked on in silence.

The young Grimer's purple, oozing facial expersion curved into a smile of hope before nodding. Maybe these people could help her, for they didn't seem like 'bad' humans by any means! They didn't even try to battle her. With that, the female poison Pokemon did not hesitate before tapping the Pokeball to become engulfed in a red vapor that capture her body and sucked it into the red and white Pokeball..
One..Two.. Three shakes and the ball gave a light 'ping' to signify the Grimer's successful capture!
Congrats! You Caught Wild Grimer! [/size]
