True to her name, Joy was absolutely... well, overjoyed when she first found out that she had a trainer. Perhaps Oddishes were rarely picked, or maybe she is just one happy Oddish. In any case, aside from being a pretty upbeat Pokemon, Joy is curious and very obviously a young Pokemon. She tends to toddle wherever she goes, which is understandable given the shape of her body. She often trips over her own two feet and ends up, startled, on her rear. Though not exactly fearless, Joy definitely is not a coward, as exemplified by her willingness to explore anything, anywhere.

Given to Kennedy by Lyle, Cruz was quite confused when he first emerged from his Poke Ball to find a new trainer before him- a female, no less! Though Cruz was given away, this fact doesn't particularly hurt his feelings. It was quite joyous for Cruz to discover a female as his new trainer and, as such, he immediately latched onto her leg, nuzzling affectionately. Kennedy found this rather amusing, especially when Joy became his next object of affection. His nickname comes from his tendency to 'cruise' from girl to girl.
