A little Eevee failed to stifle a huge yawn. Outside, Kricketot were chirping their nightly calls. Inside, a girl and four Pokémon had just entered the first floor of Silver Tower.
But, of course, this group wasn't the most ordinary of people.
The girl seemed like an average thirteen-year old, until you noticed the large, mint green Espeon's ears producing from the top of her head and the long tail which split into two at the tip, as well as the glittering ruby jewel in the centre of her forehead. Sulteron, the Espeon 'morph. Her Pokémon weren't too ordinary either. First, the Eevee. His name was Kai, and his silvery fur shone in the moonlight as he nestled happily in his trainer's arms. Next, Hinote the Growlithe. He was ordinary. Another ordinary Pokémon, Rila the Riolu. Well, almost ordinary; she was one of those rare female Riolu. Finally, the most unusual of all.
Korufu tossed his flowing blue mane, ears flicking back beside the diamond-shaped decoration there. This was a Suicune. A shiny Suicune. He padded softly in, senses telling him that there was no water in this building until the forth floor. He made a soft sound.
Sulteron looked at him. "Huh? Is something the matter, Korufu?" she asked, finding it strange how his head was level with hers when her other Pokémon needed to be looked down at.
The wolf shrugged his great shoulders. ~No, nothing. Just... curious, I guess. Why exactly are we here?~ he asked her.
Sulteron smiled. "To train. The first Gym Leader will be tough, and I heard one of her Pokémon is a level fifteen Vaporeon. I think I will probably not catch any Pokémon unless I think they would make a brilliant addition to my party. On this floor, there are normal types. I hear there are Meowth and even Ditto here, I'm going to try my best to catch one. Then I'll move to the third floor for an Electric type." she explained. Korufu nodded, understanding. There was no point in having lots of Pokémon if they were all weak, after all.
The girl and four Pokémon began to search the floor. A sleepy Kai soon became fully awake with excitement, bouncing up and down as he looked for the pink blob and cream cat they wanted to find most, or any Pokémon which they could battle but not catch, which would be useful for training on...

As the shiny, silver furred Eevee bounces about in search for their ideal Pokemon, the fox creature's paw came to rest on something rather furry that was once hidden in the shadows. However, this hidden status was not kept for a loud yowl erupted and broke any silence within the floor and a swift tackle sent Kai flying back towards it's trainer. Now in full light, the Pokemon stood, back fully arched with a violent hiss ringing out as creamy fur spiked and feline eyes locked upon the four Pokemon and their trainer. A Meowth stood tall on it's four paws in a defensive position that any cat would find themselves standing in, ready to defend it's 'territory' and obviously felt offended by the Eevee carelessly stomping upon it's tail.

Sulteron caught sight of the Meowth as a great furious hiss went through the room. The cat was positioned in a traditional terratorial position which Sulteron easily recognised from her Espeonic instincts. She looked at the disgruntled Kai, wondering what he had done to provoke Meowth like this.
The Eevee padded up to her, while Korufu examined the new Pokémon curiously. The shiny Suicune made a low rumbling sound. Meowth. They evolved into Persian, and Sulteron liked them a fair amount. Kai looked at his trainer. ~I... sort of trod on it's tail...~ he confessed. Sulteron nodded, then frowned as she looked at Meowth. It appeared to be of a slightly higher level than Kai, so the Eevee would be a good choice for this battle. "Kai, let's train! Use Tackle!" she called. The silver fox nodded, charging at the angered cat.

The female feline Pokemon carefully observed both the trainer and her pokemon, the hiss of the monster beginning to falter as concentration became greater then the threatening posture she kept up. Fur now lying fairly flat with only a few strands pricking, the feline let out an irritated and intimidating 'Mrrow' before beginning to sway from side to side, putting her weight to one side and then another as the human gave the signal for the young looking Eevee to run at her. An rather amused smirk crossed the Meowth's felidae designed lips before the Meowth halted it's swaying, focusing all weight on her paws before leaping as Kai nearly struck her with his tackle attack.
Easily, the cat Pokemon landed on the opposite side of Kai, fully unsheathing her claws from her creamy furred paws before lunging at her opponent in a Scratch attack, plunging at the fox monster claws first.

Kai let out a cry as he tumbled to the ground as Meowth leapt neatly over him. He snarled, fur bristling as he attempted at a 'threatning' pose which, as a general effect, made him look even more adorably cute. He barked, hopping from one foot to the other. Well, that had been annoying. His attack had missed! Meowth could likely be a tough opponent. However, if she was so agile and quick, maybe she had a flaw somewhere; for example, her Attack or Defense stats. Kai just didn't know. The Scratch attack looked pretty dangerous at the moment, so he wanted to stay away from that for now.
Sulteron could see that this cat was pretty determined. This would be good for when she was on her team, but at the moment, that might be a problem. Well, every problem had an answer. For now, she would just have to attack Meowth in various ways to try and find a weakness. Water, probably, but Kai was an Eevee, not a Vaporeon. "Kai, use Tackle underneath Meowth as she is about to attack!" she called.
Kai grinned, tensing his leg muscles. This should be great! He was buzzing with excitement; this was his first actual battle as a trainer's Pokémon. He judged the timing as acurately as he possible could, then sprang as Meowth's claws were about to skim his fluffy head. Hopefully, he would send Meowth into the air with a blow to the stomach.

Dissatisfaction was the first thing that came, as her claws missed the opponent's head, just; she let out a hiss. However, that hiss became a yowl, mostly of surprise, as the Eevee's attack managed to slam the Meowth in the stomach. Thrown back, she rolled across the ground for a second, before getting to her paws and hissing. Swiftly, she lashed her tail, before charging, claws still unsheathed; however, this time, her jowls gaped in an additional Bite attack.

Sulteron swallowed. A Scratch and a Bite? Yikes, this wouldn't be good. An angry cat was becoming more furious as her pride was swallowed by Kai's dodging and attacking. Well, clearly this Pokémon wasn't too used to loosing. That was about to change! Sulteron could and would win! She grinned as she started to peel bits of eggshell of the plan she was hatching. If she could fool Meowth into thinking it was doing well, then attack while it was busy, then maybe Kai would hit. It seemed attack while she was attacking was a good strategy here, so she would use it. "Kai, let it hit, then use Covet while Meowth's busy attacking!" she cried.
Kai was a little surprised at Sulteron's command, but he trusted her. She had once saved his life, after all, and he had experienced her Psychic-type gained brains many times. He was proud to have a trainer like Sulteron as she thought up such a cunning plan. Then, when the pain of the Scratch and Bite came down, he watched until Meowth seemed most unaware, then used Covet.

Satisfaction allowed a sneer to crease the feline's lips. Her blows were doing wonderfully! With a cocky hiss, the female forced her blows to be more ferocious by the second. However, the moment she believed victory was hers, the opponent countered. With a sound between a hiss and a yowl, she was thrown backwards. Rolling, she got up on all fours, hissing angrily. She did not want to lose her territory to a trainer! Still hissing, she made an attempt at another Scratch.

Sulteron watched the Meowth approach Kai with a Scratch. Although she knew that his tough life of being a reject and the trap when he was younger had toughened him up, she couldn't help but feel worried for poor Kai. He must be so hurt and hating this... it was her and his first battle, after all. She thought up a plan, and began to try and put it into action. "Kai, use Tackle to ram right into Meowth as she Scratches you at the same time, then try to keep your footing!" she called, knowing it was likely that the collision would send them both backwards.
If Sulteron had checked what Kai was thinking, she would have found the opposite of her expectations. Kai was enjoying himself in the extreme, loving the way he felt so free, so cool, as he attacked and moved like an experienced battler with the help of his loyal trainer. He loved this! This had to be the best night ever! During the day, they had found a shiny Suicune, and now it was into the night, he was fighting! He grinned as he charged straight at Meowth, bracing himself for raking claws.

More satisfaction. Then a sneer, and a purr. But, then, that abruptly stopped, as the Meowth realized she had set another trap for herself. Yowling, she was thrown backwards, despite her attempt to keep her grip upon the Eevee. She landed with a hiss, shifting back into all fours; it was clear that she was getting tired, her stamina not able to keep up with a Pokemon and Trainer team. Hissing louder than ever, she bolted for the bushes. Movements stealthy and silent, she managed to get to the bushes right beside the Eevee. Without a sound, she propelled herself at the opponent, making another attempt at a Bite and Scratch combination.

Sulteron grinned; it was fairly clear that Meowth was tiring and so would not hold out for too much longer. She could always do the same strategy for this move as she had done before, but Meowth had already experienced that and would know what was coming. However, this Meowth seemed to be the kind who simply attacked non-stop, until the opponent or herself had fainted. A determined type, but they made up for this gain by having no strategy. It seemed that this Meowth, like most Meowth, was vein, too. Well, she supposed old tricks might still work... or a variation of it. "Kai, use Covet before Meowth attacks! Use it to send her backwards!"
Kai grinned, flexing his muscles. He felt like he was king of the world or something! He could now see why every trainer and their Pokémon fought to be the Champion; this was fantastic! However, as he prepared his Covet, he realised he had timed it wrong. Although he made a last desperate effort to attack, it was too late. Meowth had struck, and he gasped in pain. He waited for Meowth to let go, then used his attack.

It exhaustion was getting worse, so it was no surprise that, even though the Eevee miscalculated, the Meowth was still thrown backwards. Hissing ferociously, she stumbled, rolling to all fours again. Clearly, she was very desperate to win. Frightened she was going to lose everything, she summoned all the strength and stamina she could muster. Then, with a ferocious yowl, she charged, using another combo of Bite and Scratch; this time, however, she propelled herself into the air, directly above the Eevee. Desperation and fury were clear on her expression.

Sulteron gritted her teeth. Since Kai was tired, he had less of a chance of dodging these attacks... this might end up either way. She was surprised to see that he still seemed to be enjoying this battle, but she was glad that this was the case. After all, part of being a trainer is about the enjoyment of it. She felt she could win, but Meowth's firely determination would be a tough thing to counter. "Kai, use Tackle to send Meowth to the roof, or at least hard to the ground!" she called, hoping this would work all right.
Kai growled as he faced Meowth, judging which part of her would strike him where. He positioned himself accordingly to this, so his more tender areas would not be struck. He hoped he would be able to dodge, but with Meowth coming from above, with this much fury... he doubted it. He tensed his muscles, ready to spring. As he leapt high in his Tackle, he felt Meowth's claws tear at him, fangs scraping him. He panted as he would hopefully collide... he was having fun, but was very tired.

A failure. Overall, failure. Her attacks connected, and she heightened them viciously, but too soon, she felt the breath get knocked out of her. The Tackle collided with her, sending her higher into the air. The higher one is, the more damage their fall would do. Hissing, she attempted to get into a good enough position; however, due to the fact she was tiring, when she landed, the force overpowered her, and threw her into the ground. Weak and exhausted, her hiss was hardly audible; she now began to admit defeat.
Wild Meowth is now able to be caught!

Kai yipped happily, doing a backflip out of joy. He was so happy and pleased and proud! He had won the first battle he had ever fought in, after years of knowing and loving his wonderful trainer! She presently punched the air, and Rila, Hinote and Korufu cheered for Kai. The shiny Eevee dashed up to Sulteron, leaping into her arms. She scratched in between his ears, and he whined in pleasure. Korufu nuzzled the Meowth. She seemed to be defeated. He looked back to Sulteron. ~I understand that you had no intention of catching many Pokémon here, but I believe you said you like Meowth?~ he pointed out. Sulteron nodded, shifting Kai's weight to one arm as she unclipped a Pokéball from her belt and threw it at Meowth. While she watched the Pokéball twitch and shudder, she asked Kai a question. "Well, you defeated a Pokémon a level stronger than you. Well done! Do you feel any stronger, Kai?" she asked him. Kai thought about it. How much stronger had he got, anyway?
