Human - Pokémon
Alias: Nox Umbra. It means 'Night Ghost' or 'Night Shadow'. He is a Team Darkness General.
Milestone: He's thirteen. He doesn't have a birthday; he was never born. However, he was taken out of the tank of fluid on the 31st of October. Very fitting, no?
Gender: Well, mostly male.
Guise: To be honest, no-one really knows what species Nox is. It's a mix between a vampire, a werewolf and a Pokémorph, all bunged up inside him. I know, those scientist guys are real nice, aren't they?
Nox is hansome enough to have girls falling all over him. It is a handy weapon, intended when he was intended to be serving Team Galactic. His hair is not too long and not too short. It is a wild, tangled mess, but he don't bother trying to tame it, for that always fails. It is a light brown colour, and in the sun appears lighter than it is. It sometimes falls in his eyes, and he is often seen flicking it back.
This hair frames a perfectly proportioned face. The smooth cheekbones line it, slim and sleek. Nox's features fit in well. His skin is a normal colour, with a hint of a tan all over. People always look at his face. That is, when they get over his ears; we're pretty certain their that of an Arcanine, despite the fact that they're pitch black. They have a little gold back across the top, from an Umbreon. People never, however, look into his eyes. Some do, but most don't. For some reason they hold a sense of danger. Nox's eyes are cold, harsh, emotionless, grey orbs flecked with gold. His mouth, as well, is odd; the teeth inside are pointed and sharp. Fangs, if you will.
Onto the body. Nox is in very good sporting condition, able to run, swim, attack, and fly (I'll come to that later) faster than humans, thanks to the scientists who created this monster. His body, too, is fairly good looking, muscles lining his chest and so on. He am thin. This is because although he does need to eat surprising amounts of food daily, his body burns it off extremely quickly. His bones are hollow, but he still needs plenty of energy and all those other essential vitamins and minerals and stuff. He doesn't know what a balanced diet for someone like him is, but he tends to go with what he feels like, and it gets him going fine.
From the base of Nox's spine produces a long, busy black tail. He thinks it's from a Mightyena. The tail is a great subsitute for a blanket, for it is very flexible and can wrap around him when he sleeps, keeping him warm. Another good thing is it sweeps easily, not that he really cares. Just for things like wiping away leaves to find a spot he can sleep in or swatting pesky flies.
Here's another fun feature of his mutant-ness. Nox's wings. They stretch out to reach about a ten foot wingspan, and appear to be that of a Pidgeotto's. The colouring is, again, black, but this time he has gold on the tips of his primaries. He likes to keep his wings hidden, his secret weapon. Or one of them, at least.
Nox's clothes are always baggy, battered, torn and more often than not dirty, although he shall try and keep them in better condition now he's settling down. Nox's usual gear is a red shirt, blue jeans and a pair of brown shoes, although often he prefers to go barefoot.
In Pokémon form, Nox has the body of an Absol, the head of a Houndoom, the ears of an Arcanine, the tail of a Mightyena and the wings of a Pidgeotto. He is black all over, with gold at the tips of his wing's primary feathers, on his claws and stripes of it on his ears, and five gold rings (but no partrige in a pear tree) on his face, and each of his four legs.
Personality: Ah, now we come to the part where we reveal Nox's bad side. He may be handsome, but he's not all that nice.
Nox has three forms; his human one, his Pokémon one, and his werewolf one. His human and Pokémon form are displayed in the sprites at the top, and his werewolf form is the same as his Pokémon one only bigger. He becomes this werewolf self every full moon, or sometimes when he gets extremely angry.
There are several sides to Nox; first I shall discribe his human one. As a human, Nox is the strong, silent type. He needs not say anything to have effect on people, for his very presence makes people nervous. He is intelligent and thinks up good strategies and solutions to problems and fights, making him a formidable enemy. Many people laugh at how a thirteen-year-old came to be a Team Darkness General, but he simply gives them a cold stare and they fall silent. He enjoys being in control, for he feels that he is finally somewhere, able, worth something, even if that means being mean. Of course, this is highly valued in any evil team, and a reason why he is so hard to beat.
In his Pokémon form, Nox is closer to his uncontrollable full moon werewolf form. Although he looks like a smaller version of it, he still keeps his mind. He gains the instinct of a predatory Pokémon, and is more deadly, more evil, than his human form. He is, however, not as intelligent, relying on his insticts more when he fights. When he does fight, he is ruthless, with no strategy other than hit, and hit hard.
In his werewolf form, which he becomes on the full moon, Nox is about the size of a winged horse. Other than that, he looks just like he does in his Pokémon form. He is a ruthless killing machine, rampaging about and slaughtering anyone who gets in his way, be it friend, family or deadly enemy. In this form, the bloodlust overcomes him. This would come in handy, say, when in an enemy's base, but in normal conditions, it's a very, very bad thing. He has no mind in this form, and his memory of when he's in it is a blur. Sometimes, however, he drinks a special potion, and keeps his mind. He is still pretty bad, though, for he still has the urge to kill and so on.
In all his forms, Nox can speak (just about), although he doesn't spead much. His vampiric genes mean that he likes blood, although it is quite weak so he can resist. However, when exposed to a large wound or the like, he can either loose control and drain the wounded of blood, or try so hard to resist that his desperate werewolf form takes over his body and does the work for him.
Everyone had a soft spot, right? Although Nox was designed to be heartless, he is actually caring about something; Pokémon. Any Pokémon, any size, shape, type or level, he will treat as his equal. Not exactly the love of a trainer, but it would be like they were friends. As if they were human.
Days of yore: Ah, the interesting story of Nox's life so far. He has a strange upbringing. Well, that's an understatement. You see, we must first start from the point before Nox was born. Firstly, the much-loved family tree. It runs a bit like this;
Nox Umbra.
That's it. His entire family tree of all there is in the Umbra family, including the dead. Just Nox, all alone. Other children whose parents had died were known as orphans; he did not know what he was known as, for he doubted that there ever was anyone who had no biological parents before. Nox has never been born; he had been created, created by evil. Here's a story of it, in character.
A scientist carefully took the bubbling test tube in a pair of tongs, pouring it into the tank surrounding the microscopic human egg. He sighed, taking off his goggles and looking at his colleague. "Phew! That's the last of it. I created a special formula using the fluid inside a human, Absol, Houndoom, Arcanine and Mightyena womb, and a Pidgeot egg. Do you think that'll support our organism?" he asked her.
She smiled. "Jerry, you worry too much. The hard part was creating the human egg in the appropriate way for the monster the Boss wanted. There's a bit of vampire and werewolf in there, but I'm sure it'll be fine. The Pokémon traits are there, too." she explained, waving a hand at the speck she had spent ours bending over a microscope to create. She wasn't entirely sure whether this would be a sucess or not, but in the end, who cared? They could just make another, better one.
A project manager entered the room at that moment, the high ranking Galactic officer dealing Jane and Jerry a stern look. "How is the Boss' weapon coming along?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he was presented with a mere speck.
Jerry grinned. "We have produced the egg and a tank for it to develop in. In a few months, it should have developed enough for us to work on the brain." he nodded. The manager seemed satisfied, and left.
Six months later, the part-Pokémon, part-vampire, part-werewolf human embryo had had modifications on his brain to make him a heartless, cruel madman. At this point, a lot of goings on was happening at the lab. Namely, the fact that it seemed ready for birth... or whatever it did.
After Nox emerged from the tank, he grew at the normal human rate. It seemed that it was merely his growth rate before brith was different in any way.
When he was a young boy, Nox held the scientists in high regard. They were, after all, the closest thing he had to family. He would always do anything they asked him to, and he soon became very close to the Boss, as intended. The plan was to make him willing to do anything for the Boss, and be able to do anything. This was going fairly well, until he reached roughly the age of eight, and he started getting plans of his own, aims to become successful himself, rather than helping others become successful.
The eight year old Nox grinned as he played with the Boss' Absol. He was in his Pokémon form, having a play fight with the Pokémon. He laughed, flapping his wings to regain balance, when the Boss entered the room. He stopped immedietly, Absol padding loyaly over to her master. Nox, who then came up to about the Boss' waist in his Pokémon form, had his tail between his legs. He and Absol were the best of friends, but he wasn't sure if the Boss liked him being too friendly with other species. "Boss, ple-" he began an apology, tricky with a muzzle. The Boss cut him off.
"No, Nox, it's fine. It's clear that Absol was just helping you learn to fight against Pokémon." the Boss smiled, not knowing that this was the truth. Nox brightened up. "Thanks, Boss! Can Absol teach me often?" he asked. The Boss shrugged. "Sure, I'll fit it into you scheduel." he agreed.
Through these lessons, Absol told Nox of what it would be like if he were free. Nox desperately wanted this, but he felt he would not be able to do this. Absol smiled. ~Don't worry, Nox. You'll be fine. Meet me tonight, in the janitor's office.~ she promised.
Nox managed to sneak out, as did Absol. They met up, and Absol insisted that Nox should go alone; that way, things would be easier. However, before he left, she wanted to give him something. Her paws seemed reluctant to release their grip. ~Nox, promise me you'll take good care of this. Treat it as though it were your lungs or something. You see, Nox, what you hold is a part of me. This... is my only Egg.~ she told him, looking into his eyes. He nodded, shifting into his Pokémon form. He clutched it tight in his clawed paws, smashing the window and flying into the night.
When the Egg hatched, Nox named the baby Absol Tayeko. He wanted him to become as strong as his mother. They were hiding out in a forest, where many rare and strong Pokémon lived. Over time, Nox trained Tayeko, and stole Pokéballs, catching a Starly, then Shinx, then Charmander and finally a Dratini. He trained these all up, not going easy on them or himself either for that matter, until they were all extremely strong.
At the age of eleven, Nox joined the ranks of Team Darkness. He was regarded a very worthy member, quickly progressing through the ranks as his already tough and evolved Pokémon got even tougher. The day his Dragonair evolved into a Dragonite was the day he was promoted to First Commander. He was overjoyed that he had finally achieved something, and set out to spread fear with the name 'Team Darkness'.
